ContextThe Red Sea is one of Saudi Arabia's flagship tourism developments and a cornerstone of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 programme.
Developed by The Red Sea Development Company (TRSDC), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the destination extends across more than 28,000 km² of pristine coastline, encompassing an archipelago of more than 90 islands, dramatic mountain landscapes, dormant volcanoes and significant cultural heritage sites.
Designed to establish new international benchmarks for luxury tourism and sustainable development, the destination required a strategic brand platform capable of supporting long-term growth while creating a coherent identity across an increasingly diverse portfolio of places, experiences and hospitality assets.

ChallengeThe scale and ambition of The Red Sea created a unique destination branding challenge.
The destination needed to communicate its positioning as a world-class luxury tourism destination while reflecting its commitment to sustainability, environmental stewardship and authentic Saudi hospitality.
At the same time, the project required a coherent destination naming strategy, brand architecture and governance framework capable of organising a growing portfolio of islands, resorts, districts and visitor experiences while maintaining clarity for investors, government stakeholders, operators and future visitors.

SolutionWorking alongside The Red Sea Development Company (TRSDC) and in collaboration with partner agencies Burson and Interbrand, Aeron supported one of the world's most ambitious destination branding programmes through a comprehensive programme of destination brand strategy, brand architecture, naming strategy, research and identity development.
The engagement included extensive governmental and consumer research, stakeholder interviews and focus groups to understand audience expectations, destination perceptions and long-term strategic opportunities. These insights informed the destination's positioning and future brand direction.
A central part of the programme was the development of a scalable destination naming strategy, establishing the nomenclature for the wider destination together with its portfolio of more than 90 islands, resorts, districts and supporting assets. Alongside this, Aeron developed a robust brand architecture designed to organise an increasingly complex portfolio while providing the flexibility to support future phases of development.
The programme also included the development of the destination's visual and verbal identity, creating a coherent design and communications framework capable of expressing The Red Sea's ambition to become one of the world's leading luxury and sustainable tourism destinations. International trademark strategy and creative brand development further supported the long-term protection and evolution of the destination brand.
Together, these strategic foundations provide a framework for consistent destination branding, portfolio management and future growth as The Red Sea continues to evolve.

ResultOur work with The Red Sea formed part of the strategic foundations supporting one of the world's largest destination development programmes.
The engagement established frameworks for destination naming, brand architecture, identity development, trademark strategy and brand governance, creating a structured platform capable of supporting future destination expansion while maintaining consistency across a complex portfolio of destinations, resorts and visitor experiences.
As The Red Sea continues to evolve, these strategic foundations are designed to support long-term destination growth while helping maintain a coherent and distinctive global brand.
